National Day of Mourning – April 28
Every year on April 28, we observe the National Day of Mourning—a solemn occasion to honour and remember those who have lost their lives, suffered injury, or experienced illness due to workplace-related incidents.
Across Canada, workers, families, and communities pause to reflect on these tragedies. Each life lost is one too many. Behind every statistic is a person—someone loved, missed, and mourned. The impact of these losses extends far beyond the workplace.
We invite you to watch the video below from the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), and to join us in observing a minute of silence in remembrance. Let this day also serve as a reminder of our shared responsibility to advocate for safer workplaces and to protect the health and well-being of all workers.
If you or someone you know has been affected by a workplace tragedy, Threads of Life provides support and resources: threadsoflife.ca
