As you can see from the links and archived materials, ARM members have been involved in a wide range of activities from a sporting nature, cultural, and long-standing political engagement in close co-operation with Provincial OSSTF. We will continue to post events and newsletters from the active chapters. Please feel free to join in any of the activities listed.

We now have over 4,000 members in Ontario. Join us and become a regular user of this site.

Feel free to contact me if you wish further information or other leaders of the active chapters listed on the web page.

Best wishes in Federation,
Iain Beaton — Chair, ARM Council

The 1996 Annual Meeting of Provincial Assembly of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation created the OSSTF Active Retired Members (ARM). There were a number of reasons for this action.

First, it provided a means by which retiring members of OSSTF could maintain a link with their organization. This is achieved through regular communications from OSSTF to the members of ARM.

Second, the members of ARM could be called upon to give a hand to the members of OSSTF working within their locations should circumstances arise requiring additional help and assistance.

Third, through the creation of chapters paralleling districts, members of ARM could maintain contact with their retired colleagues.

Fourth, and with the assistance of OSSTF, ARM created its own health insurance plan. The underlying philosophy of the plan was that it was to be equal to, or better than, any other health insurance plan available to retirees.
